Sexual Addiction
Skyview Counseling works
with Men and Students who are struggling with Sexual Addiction. We seek to
Identify Heart Problems & Issues, Break Addictive Cycles, Provide
Accountability, Build Healthy Habits and Relationships.
Definition: Sexual Addiction is generally
defined as any sexual behavior that is unmanageable, destructive, repetitive,
insatiable and meditative.
Criteria: Typically, a person has a Sexual
Addiction if they meet at least three of the following criteria...
1) Has an ongoing desire to stop or control the behavior -
but is generally unsuccessful.
2) Has a sense of being out of control and unable to stop.
3) The need for the sexual behavior continues to grow - it
is insatiable.
4) Unable to stop even if there are severe consequences.
5) Continues to pursue dangerous, high-risk and /or
self-destructive sexual behavior.
6) Experiences severe consequences because of their sexual
behavior.
7) Sexual fantasy, obsession and acting out become the
primary focus and need of life.
8)
A tremendous amount of time is spent in sexual fantasy, setting up, acting out,
and recovering from sexual behaviors.
9) When there is sexual activity, extensive mood changes
take place.
10)
There is a break down in primary relationships, in work and/or activities
because of the sexual behaviors.

Levels of Sexual Addiction: Skyview Counseling works with Men
and Students who are struggling with Levels 1a, 1b, 2, & 3 Sexual
Behaviors.
o
Level 1a
Sexual Addiction involves sexual behaviors that have no actual contact with a
real living person - such as pornography (magazines, video, Internet, sex
related TV etc.), compulsive and/or damaging masturbation, obsessive sexual
fantasy.
o
Level 1b
Sexual Addiction involves sexual behavior that involves a living heterosexual
person - such as Internet chat rooms, phone sex, strip clubs, adultery, one
night stands, concurrent multiple sexual relationships, prostitution, escort
services, and 'massage' parlors.

Level 2
Sexual Addiction involves sexual behaviors that are predatory in nature, some
of which are illegal - such as voyeurism (peeping), exhibitionism, covertly
rubbing up against people for sexual stimulation, masturbation in a vehicle,
predatory and random sexual phone calls, taking and wearing other people's
clothes for sexual stimulation, and the targeting of a specific adult
population (ie nurses, teachers, secretaries etc.).

Level 3
Sexual Addiction involves sexual behaviors that are unusual, bizarre, unnatural
and/or are illegal. Such as - multiple sexual relationships needed daily, rape,
sexual abuse by force, anonymous sex with total strangers, hot johns, having
sex with known STD and AIDS carriers, homosexuality, dangerous sex, sex with
animals, sex with dead people/things, sex that involves the occult or religions,
sadomasochism, BDSM, pedophile, incest, and a variety of other sexual
behaviors.
